ARTIFACT:
This is a Beautiful circa 1925 Rickenbacker-Berks Motor Company Promotional Enameled Bronze Letter Opener by Metal Arts Co. Featuring the Company Logo, the Iconic WWI 94th Aero Squadron Hat in the Ring.
Rickenbacker was the leading United States ace of World War I, and designed the famous Hat-in-the-Ring logo that the 94th Aero Squadron used in the war. He won rights to it in a court battle against the US Army (Air Service) and then used it at other companies he started or at which he acted as CEO during his lifetime. He gave the logo rights back to the USAAF for the squadron to use again in World War II and thereafter.
VINTAGE:
World War I. Circa 1925.
SIZE:
Approximately 9" in length x 1-1/4" in width. Rickenbacker-berks Oval Mark: 1" in height x 1-5/8" in width.
