ARTIFACT: This is a Beautiful circa 1900 New York State Health Officer badge in heavy die struck gilt and enameled brass by Dieges & Clust. The center of the badge features fine detail showing the Great Seal of the State of New York, as depicted through Liberty and Justice with a scroll/banner below them that reads: "EXCELSIOR" the New York State motto meaning 'Ever Upward'. Surrounding the center is a blue enameled ring that reads: "HEALTH OFFICER NEW YORK STATE" and the badge is topped with a perched eagle.

VINTAGE: Circa 1900

SIZE: Approximately 1 7/8" x 1 1/8

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt and enameled brass

ATTACHMENT: Vertical 'T' pin with 'C' catch.

MARKINGS:  "DIEGES & CLUST MAKERS"

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine - Excellent): The badge shows moderate wear and a spot of oxidation, nearly all the gilt and enamel details remain intact.
