ARTIFACT: This is a beer can DI made in the Republic of Vietnam for the United States Air Force 1st Air Commando Squadron. The 1st was activated June 17, 1963, proceeding to Bien Hoa and being assigned first to the 34th Tactical Group. The 1st was reassigned several times over its career and on August 1, 1968 became the 1st Special Operations Squadron. The DI is shaped like a number one and shows an eagle clutching a globe and some arrows its center.

VINTAGE: Circa 1960s.

SIZE: Approximately 1-3/16" in height x 5/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Acid etched brass, nickel-plated with painted details.

ATTACHMENT: Two posts with plastic clutch-backs.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Air Force collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBAX12 LABJX8/12 SABJX11/21

CONDITION: 8 (Excellent-): The DI shows little wear with some minor marks on the reverse only.
