ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1954-1955 United States Labor Service 6981st Signal Construction Battalion commemorative plaque in hand-cut brass. The battalion was a post-World War II German reconstruction unit. After "Bundeswehr" was formed in the Federal Republic of Germany on January 7, 1955, the German Labor Service units were redesignated as "Civilian Labor Groups" (CLGs). The plaque has a partial red cloth backing that adds color to the cut-out arc at the top of the plaque. The dates 1.7.54 and 1.7.55 are cut-out along the bottom of the plaque, and the unit's eagle beneath two crossed signal flags crest is at center.

VINTAGE: Circa 1954-1955.

SIZE: Approximately" in height by" in width".

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Hand-cut brass, partial cloth backing.

ATTACHMENT: Small holes.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a post-WWII United States Labor Service collection that we will be listing more of over the next few months. ebay VBJX14 LAFEX2/14

CONDITION: 8 (Excellent-): The plaque has only very light wear and tarnish with pinholes through the backing from hanging.
