ARTIFACT:
This is a Awesome Ca 1930 Shawano County Wisconsin Traffic Police Badge. This badge was worn at the county level, before the Wisconsin State Patrol was formed. Early, Pre Wisconsin State Patrol County Level Traffic Enforcement Badge under Shawano Co.'s Highway Department.
Huge Old Gilt Brass Circle Cut-Out Star shield with Eagle Top. The badge was constructed from 2 separate pieces, the eagle being produced separately from the shield, and then the 2 pieces were soldered or braised togetehr. The eagle appears to have been re-soldered / reinforced at some point during the period of wear, not only at the contact points, but it also looks like the eagle cracked or broke a bit higher up into the wing on the right side (as viewed).

Circa 1930.

Approximately 3-3/8" in height x 2-1/8" in width.

Two-piece construction, Gilt Brass Circle Cut-Out Star shield with Eagle Top.
