ARTIFACT: This is an attic-fresh World War I Imperial German pickelhaube, or spiked helmet. The helmet hails from Württemberg, and the ornate front "wappen" (plate) is the Wurttemberg coat of arms: a lion rampant and a deer bearing a banner reading "Furchtlos und Trew" ("Fearless and loyal"). There are two side posts but no cockades. The helmet has its original spike and rear spine, as well as its neck guard and chinstrap, but no front visor.

VINTAGE: Circa World War I.

SIZE: Approximately 8" in height; head opening: 7-1/2" by 5-1/2".

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Leather and tinned steel, plated brass, leather, cotton lace.

ATTACHMENT: Lace inside liner, brads inside top, swiveling chin strap (does still swivel but was not fully extended for photos).

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an Imperial Germany gear collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. SHOP MBEJX14 LEGEX7/14 TRCJJX8/14

CONDITION: 6 (Fine+): The helmet is in fine condition however the visor is not present.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
