ARTIFACT:
This is a set of three great United States Marine Corps sweetheart pieces which each bear an eagle, globe and anchor. Two of the items are wooden cigarette holders and one is a calendar fashioned from the trunk of a native Australian tree, the mulga. One holder has painted lettering reading AUSTRALIA JIMMIE 1943 and a sliding cover that reveals cylindrical holes for cigarettes. The other holder, which also has sliding parts, is engraved with the word SMOKES and has a brass engraved plate in the shape of Australia bearing the name SALLY. The calendar has removable plastic tabs for the month, date and day of the week and reads GREETINGS FROM AUSTRALIA 1943.

Items are of various sizes with none being more than 4-3/8" in height or 6-7/8" in width.

Polyurethaned wood, plated brass insignia, plastic details.
