ARTIFACT: This is a 1960s hand-painted bronze plaque for the United States Navy's USS Mariano G. Vallejo (SSBN-658), a ballistic missile submarine named after a Mexican general. The plaque shows a great bear with a nod to the symbol of the "Bear Flag Revolt" and the forerunner of California's state flag.

VINTAGE: Circa 1960s.

SIZE: Approximately 6-3/16" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Hand-painted bronze.

ATTACHMENT: Hole.

MARKINGS: None.
