ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1950s Perma-Pic lighter for the United States Navy USS Aeolus ARC-3. Formerly an attack cargo ship named the Turandot, the Aeolus was rechristened in 1954 as a cable repair ship. The front of the lighter shows a black and silver photographic image of the ship.

VINTAGE: Circa mid- to late 1950s.

SIZE: Approximately 2-1/4" height and 1-7/16" width and 1/2" thickness.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Chrome-plated brass, printed aluminum insert.

ATTACHMENT: Hinge.

MARKINGS: MADE IN JAPAN FOR PERMA-PIC NEW HOPE, PA. PL600.

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The lighter shows overall light wear but there is a corner of the ship's picture that is missing.
