ARTIFACT: This is a 1948 type silver Belgian Laureate of Work badge and two matching lapel pins on its original presentation pad. Motivational "distinctive awards" for Belgian workers were instituted on March 14th, 1929. The Laureate of Work is one of the six existing grades, although the awards have evolved over the years. Awards to Laureates of Work are commensurate with their skill competency, and may be in bronze, silvered bronze or gilt bronze. The recipient is considered an expert in their field when this distinction is bestowed upon them. The pins are brightly enameled with an upright sledgehammer at their center.

VINTAGE: Circa 1948.

SIZE: Badge: approximately 2-3/4" in height and 13/16" in width; each lapel pin: approximately 1-15/16" in height and 5/16" in width; pad: approximately 1-3/8" in height and 1-15/16" in width.
