ARTIFACT: This is a hardcover first edition copy of a World War II unit history for the United States Army Air Forces 513th Bombardment Squadron. This book, entitled "Born in Battle: Round the World Adventures of the 513th Bombardment Squadron" was written by Captain Rowan T. Thomas, a heavy bombardment pilot with the 513th. The book was published in 1944 by the John C. Winston Company. There are many action shots and candid photographs included. The endpapers show a one-color map of the 513th's travels across several continents.

VINTAGE: Published 1944 (World War II).

SIZE: 367 pages including black and white photographs. Approximately 8-1/2" in height and 6" in width and 1-3/8" in thickness.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Embossed cloth-bound cover, paper.

ATTACHMENT: Glued binding.

MARKINGS: Copyright, 1944, by the John C. Winston Company (Philadelphia Toronto).
