ARTIFACT: Circa 1943 WWII American Red Cross General Enrollment lapel badge in wartime shortage materials. The center features a white disc embroidered on silk bearing the iconic Red Cross and surrounding embroidery reads: "AMERICAN RED CROSS VOLUNTEER". The embroidered silk center has been affixed to a painted wood disc backing and front, covered with celluloid.

VINTAGE: Circa 1943

SIZE: Approximately 1" in diameter

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Embroidered silk, cotton/polyester/silk thread, painted wood, celluloid, wartime shortage metal

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with drop in swivel locking catch.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a medical and humanities, Red Cross collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. RAL93 LBDX11/15

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The lapel badge shows moderate wear, mostly to celluloid which shows age discoloration and separation on the edge, does not detract much.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
