ARTIFACT: This is a World War II United States Merchant Marine Service photo identification paper dated 1942. The paper certified that Edward Francis Hathaway was qualified to be an "ordinary seaman". The paper was signed at the port of Providence, Rhode Island on September 14, 1942.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 5" in height by 7-7/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Printed paper, photograph.

ATTACHMENT: Photo is stapled to paper.

MARKINGS: FORM 884 CERTIFICATE OF IDENTIFICATION SERIAL NUMBER E360760 BOOK NUMBER Z(?)-318140.

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The paper shows some light wear and fading and has creasing and some small tears along the edge.
