ARTIFACT: This is a launching ribbon for the USS Haddock SS-231 from the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard on October 20, 1941. This was the first submarine to use the new SJ-type submarine surface radar which added greatly to their power in seeking out and destroying enemy ships in darkness or reduced visibility.

VINTAGE: Circa 1941.

SIZE: About 2-1/4 in width by 5-1/4" in height.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Printed silk.
