ARTIFACT:
This is a circa 1941-1943 badge for the Vichy France Directorate of Naval Industries Toulon by Augis. Only 3,000 of these badges were made in this size. The badge is for the department created in 1941 to centralize management of marine industries. It and shows the nose of a battleship with factories in the background and reads IN at the top right-hand corner. Ceci est un insigne pour La France de Vichy Direction de la Marine Industries Toulon. Le badge est pour le département créé en 1941 pour centraliser la gestion des industries maritimes. Il affiche le nez d'un cuirassé avec des usines dans le fond et lit dans en haut à droite.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1941-1943.
SIZE:
Approximately 1" in height and 3/4" in width. Environs 20 mm par 25 mm.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Plated brass with painted areas. Laiton plaqué avec des surfaces peintes.
ATTACHMENT:
Vertical pin (pin missing) with a "C" catch. Axe vertical (axe manquants) avec "C" attraper.
