ARTIFACT:
This is a beautiful and scarce circa 1930s Boston Police Lieutenant Series #7 badge in the "clamshell" or sunburst radiator" style, with second type numbering on reverse. This badge had a pin and catch replacement sometime during its use during the 1930s. This badge style (Series #7) was used in the Massachusetts capital for just about 40 years, from 1920 until 1959. It is typical to find badges of this series with pin repairs and re-plating done during the period of use, although this badge appears to still have its original plating. The badge has the Seal of the City of Boston at center and is topped by the Arm of Miles Standish. It is numbered 1906 on reverse.
