ARTIFACT: This is a fabulous full-size, 14 karat gold-front Los Angeles Police presentation captain's badge from 1925. The striking and substantial badge is adorned with ruby, sapphire and diamond chips and has nice engraved details on the eagle, around the lettering and on the ribboning. The badge is infinitely more impressive in hand. The reverse reads PRESENTED TO CAPTAIN GEORGE DAUDEL FROM HIS FRIENDS OF WILSHIRE POLICE STATION 1925. George O. Daudel was born on November 16, 1880, and became a member of the LAPD on June 25, 1907. He was there during the Roaring '20s, with its speakeasies and crime, and retired on December 15, 1927. Daudel died on June 9, 1955.

VINTAGE: Circa 1925.

SIZE: Approximately 3-5/16" in height and 2-3/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: 14 karat gold-front with enamel, ruby, sapphire and diamond chips, riveted to gilt brass backing plate.
