ARTIFACT: This is a 1920s automobile radiator badge by Auld Co. for Rickenbacker-Berks Motor Company. Rickenbacker was the leading United States ace of World War I, and designed the famous Hat-in-the-Ring logo that the 94th Aero Squadron used in the war. He won rights to it in a court battle against the US Army (Air Service) and then used it at other companies he started or at which he acted as CEO during his lifetime. He gave the logo rights back to the USAAF for the squadron to use again in World War II and thereafter. The badge has a great red, white and blue enameled Hat-in-the-Ring logo.

VINTAGE: Circa 1920s.

SIZE: Approximately 1-7/8" in height and 2-13/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Steel with enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Stud.

MARKINGS: PAT. APR 25 (?) 1918 THE D. L. AULD CO. COLO.
