ARTIFACT: Beautiful portrait photo, circa 1918 of United States Navy Aviation Cadet, Anthony Percy Schneider Jr. Shown in Aviation Green with rare cadet visor hat, in fabulous bronze WWI aviation themed frame (actually US Air Service). Accompanied by framed Letter of Condolences to Schneider's father from Lieutenant Harlod C. Van Valzah, Commanding Officer of the US Naval Aviation Department, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) where Schneider was training when he succumbed to Influenza.

The letter reads: "My Dear Mr Schneider,

May I express on behalf of the officers, students, and men of this station our deepest and most heartfelt sympathy in the loss of your son. His record here was excellent, both in an academic way and in aptitude for the service, and his death was a distinct loss not only to this school but to the Navy at large. Had he lived there is no doubt but that he would have proved a credit to us and to the service for which he gave his life - I trust that the realization that your son died for his country as surely as though it had occurred on the field of battle will in some measure mitigate your great sorrow. With all sympathy with the hope that you will call upon me if I can be of any assistance whatever

I am Sincerely Yours,

Harold Von Valzah Lieutenant US Navy"
