ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1906 advertising mug made in Mettlach, Germany for Hires Root Beer. The mug is by Villeroy & Boch and has their famous abbey mark on its bottom, along with a date mark. A rosy-cheeked child is on the front beneath the slogan "Drink Hires Rootbeer".

VINTAGE: Circa 1906.

SIZE: Approximately 4-3/16"e; in height and 3-1/4" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Stoneware.

ATTACHMENT: Handle.

MARKINGS: MADE IN GERMANY VILLEROY & BOCH METTLACH FOR THE CHARLES E. HIRES COMPANY; 309 31 IV 06 stamps..

ITEM NOTES: This is from an advertising collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. NAEM13 LABEX7/13 SLHEX4/16 SGEX11/16

CONDITION: 5- (Very Good+): The mug has two age/stress cracks: one at the center of the handle and one on the reverse and the one on the handle is only slightly visible from the front and does not detract; no chips or stains.
