ARTIFACT: This is an 1898 parade ribbon for the 8th Annual N.E.S.V.F. (New England States Veteran Firemen's) League Hand Pump Tournament held at Portland, Maine. The large ribbon has bullion fringe with a celluloid bar and was made by Whitehead & Hoag Company of Newark, New Jersey.

VINTAGE: Circa 1898.

SIZE: Approximately 8-1/2" in height and 2-7/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Celluloid, brass, silk, bullion.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal safety-style pin on bar.

MARKINGS: WHITEHEAD & HOAG NEWARK N.J. mark on back of bar and paper label.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a fire parade ribbon collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAEM13 LIEX9/13 SLFEX9/16 SeVIJX02/27/21

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The ribbon has some light to medium wear and tarnish.
