ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1896 medal for five years of service in the Connecticut Governor's Foot Guard of Hartford, Conn., named to W. J. Bartlett, made of 10 karat gold. The medal is dated April 4, 1896, at bottom and hangs from a series of two richly detailed bars. The medallion has an red, white and blue enameled GFG logo at center.


The medal weighs 12.5 grams. 

VINTAGE: Circa 1896.

SIZE: 2-9/16" in height and 1-1/2" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: 10 karat gold with enameling.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with "C" catch.

MARKINGS: APRIL 4, 1896 on front of medal, W. J. BARTLETT on reverse and GOLD J. MARRIOTT BOSTON maker's mark.

CONDITION: 8+ (Excellent): Aside from some light tarnish in spots, this medal is in sensational shape.
