ARTIFACT: This is a unique 1890s golf club-shaped drink stirrer from the Rockingham Hotel in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The Rockingham Hotel was a luxurious establishment started by larger-than-life local hero Frank Jones and which operated until 1973 and was converted into condos and a restaurant. The stirrer reads AT THE SIGN OF THE LIONS on its reverse (the door of the former hotel is still flanked by twin lion statues).

VINTAGE: Circa 1890s.

SIZE: Approximately 6" in length and 3/4" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Nickel-plated steel.
