ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1890s Austrian Teutonic Order badge for a Professed Knight (also known as a Priest Cross) in enameled silver. The original German Order of the Teutonic Knights was instituted in the twelfth century by a German Crusader, Duke Frederick of Swabia. The badge is Austrian-made and has silver marks on both the pin and the catch. It would have been worn upon the breast.

VINTAGE: Circa 1890s.

SIZE: Approximately: 2-7/16" in height and 2-3/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Silver, enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical T-style pin with C catch.

MARKINGS: Silver marks: AKA A A(?) on pin; mark (possibly hand with two fingers crossed?) on catch.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an Austrian militaria collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MBCJX09 LFGEX9/13 SEIJX11/13

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The badge has some light wear and minor tarnish only.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
