ARTIFACT: Great 1880's cabinet photo of midget couple Count & Countess Magri. Count Primo Magri married Lavinia Warren Bump, the former Mrs. Tom Thumb. Born in Massachusetts, Lavinia enjoyed widespread notoriety in the 1860's as Tom Thumb's wife - President Lincoln hosted a wedding reception for the two at the White House. General Tom Thumb was a stage name, his real name was Charles Sherwood Stratton and he became famous working for P. T. Barnum. Two years after General Thumb passed unexpectedly at age 45, Lavinia married Count Primo Magri and the two starred together in the movie The Lilliputian's Courtship and established the Lilliputian Opera Company. Upon her death, Lavinia was buried next to General Tom Thumb. The portrait was taken by Horace M. Ollivier who enjoyed capturing the period's celebrities, he was born in Springfield, Massachusetts and later moved to New York City. This handsome photo was taken on the day of the couple's wedding day and below the portrait it reads: "COUNT AND COUNTESS MAGRI OLLIVIER 343 SIXTH AVE., NEW YORK." and the reverse reads: "OLLIVIER 343 Sixth Avenue – New York City – OLD PORTRAITS COPIED – A Handsome Portrait in Oil or Crayon Framed for $12.00 – ORDERS BY MAIL PROMPTLY ATTENDED TO." Along the top of the reverse, someone mistakenly labeled the photo "Mr. & Mrs. Tom Thumb".
