ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1870s or 1880s Long Island City (Queens), New York Volunteer Fire Department exempt fireman badge. The badge is numbered 295 at the very bottom. The center of the badge shows firefighting equipment in relief.

VINTAGE: Circa 1870s-1880s.

SIZE: Approximately 2-1/4" in height and 1-11/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt brass.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical kick pin (catch is missing).

MARKINGS: 295 on front.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an old New York City fire badge collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. CON-RLB-VEJX14 (VEJX10/99) LDIEX5/14 SBFBX2/15

CONDITION: 6+ (Fine-Very Fine): The badge has some light wear and minor oxidation; catch is missing.
