ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1870s or 1880s Long Island City (Queens), New York Fire Department Columbia Hook & Ladder No. 4 badge. The badge is numbered 10 at the very bottom. The center of the badge shows a hook and ladder in relief and two arms of the cross bear firefighting equipment.

VINTAGE: Circa 1870s-1880s.

SIZE: Approximately 2-1/4" in height and 2-1/4" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Nickel-plated brass.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical kick pin (catch is missing).

MARKINGS: 20 on front.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an old New York City fire badge collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. CON-RLB-VEJX14 (VEJX10/99) LEFEX5/14 SCAEX2/15

CONDITION: 6 (Fine+): The badge has some spots of light to medium wear and tarnish; some minor oxidation on reverse; catch is missing.
