ARTIFACT: 1860's - 1870's early example of 3rd Issue Baltimore, Maryland police badge. The large oval shaped badge shows The Battle Monument in the center in raised detail and surrounding it reads: "CITY POLICE 1797" in embossed detail. The outer edge of the badge is surrounded with points and encircled with a ring, the entire badge is one-piece made of white metal. This is the second style of the 3rd Issue badge, the first was two-piece construction with a brass outer ring and points.

VINTAGE: Circa 1860's - 1870's

SIZE: Approximately 3" x 2-3/8"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: White metal, brass findings

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with 'C' type catch

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a police and law enforcement collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MVCBX16 LIGEX3/16

CONDITION: 6+ (Fine - Very Fine): The badge shows heavy wear mostly to high points and pin, overall very fine condition.
