ARTIFACT:
This is a 14 karat lapel pin for the National Society of the United States Daughters of 1812. A blue enamel star reading U.S.D. 1812 is at the circular pin's center. The society was begun in 1892 as a sorority for women with ancestors who served in either the military or civil service or materially aided the United States military from 1784-1815.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1910-1919.
SIZE:
9/16" diameter.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
14 karat gold with blue enamel.
ATTACHMENT:
Horizontal pin with drop-in swivel catch.
MARKINGS:
11227 179 and J.E.C. & CO 14K on reverse.
