ARTIFACT: One of a kind! This is a wonderful named circa 1930 San Bernardino County, California Deputy sheriff badge that comes with its original carrying case and a 1921 carrying permit. The badge originally belonged to Albert Jordan, whose name is engraved upon the reverse of the badge. It is an ornate six-point star badge showing a California grizzly bear at center with the county's symbol, an arrowhead, below it in silver and gold fill. The badge has an early Entenmann Company hallmark on reverse. The "License to Carry a Concealed Firearm" was issued on July 10, 1931 to Dr. Albert Jordan of Lytle Creek for his Smith & Wesson and was signed by Ernest Shay, Under-Sheriff. The case is a tri-fold with a snap closure.

VINTAGE: Circa 1930-1931.

SIZE: Badge: approximately 2-1/2" in height and 2-1/4" in width; case: 3-3/4" by 2-1/2" (when folded); permit: 9" by 5-1/2".

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt brass, enamel, gold fill, silver, leather, paper.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with drop-in locking swivel catch, snap on case.

MARKINGS: ALBERT JORDAN and ENTENMANN CO. (early mark) on reverse of badge; A. CARLISLE & CO. SAN FRANCISCO printer's mark on license, signed by Jordan and Shay.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an old California police and law enforcement badge collection that we will be listing more of over the next few months. VCJJX14 LAFGEX2/14 SAFGEX4/14

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent Overall): The badge has very little wear. The case is worn and somewhat delicate. License shows some age and creasing.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
