ARTIFACT:
Named WWII 1st Special Service Force / 1st Rangers Veteran Grouping with engraved commemorative V-42 stiletto by Case and original WWII items that include, a cotton khaki overseas hat with Italian red, white, and blue piping, two 1st Ranger Battalion Scrolls, and an Italian-made 1st Special Service Force patch. The 1st Special Force also known as the 'Devil's Brigade', was an elite unit established in 1942 that served with the United States Fifth Army. The 1st Special Service Force was engaged in combat overseas during WWII and fought in the Aleutian Islands, Italy, and southern France before being deactivated in 1944 - the 1st SSF received a Congressional Gold Medal in 2013.
The Ranger beret is green wool with leather, and displays a number of insignia including a RARE 1st Special Service Force Veteran Badge, square gilt brass showing the 1st SSF insignia with crossed arrows in blue and red enameled detail. The beret also features one of the WWII original 1st Ranger BN scrolls, and a number of other insignia, which are shown in a photo below. The tag inside the beret reads: "SIZE 7 1/4 8405-00-082-5647 BERET, MAN'S, RIFLE GREEN 297, CL1 DLA100-83-C-0811 100% WOOL EXCEPT LINING, SWEATBAND AND DRAWCORD BANCROFT CAP COMPANY".
The American Legion Veteran cap is navy blue with yellow piping, leather sweatband, and displays the second 1st Ranger BN scroll, as well as an original WWII rare, Italian-made 1st Special Service Force shoulder patch in a Bevo weave, which reads: "USA" horizontally across the top and "CANADA". The cap reads "HOMESTEAD, FLA." and also features the American Legion insignia fully embroidered, the opposite side shows the number: "43". The inside reads: "M. F. R. 420 NATIONAL EMBLEM SALES NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS THE AMERICAN LEGION INDIANAPOLIS, IND", and a tag reads: "623661", "7" and shows a Union Made stamp.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars cap is olive drab with yellow piping, lined with satin and features the insignia fully embroidered, the side of the cap reads: "V.F.W. 4127" and the opposite side: "FLORIDA". The tag on the inside shows: "10959", "7 1/4" and a Union Made stamp.
The V-42 stiletto, a fighting knife issued during WWII to the 1st Special Service Force is included as a commemorative boxed example named to: "EDWARD R. SICHLER 1 - 2 ASN6891923" on the front. The reverse reads: "IN HONOR OF THE AMERICANS OF THE FIRST SPECIAL SERVICE FORCE" and features a painted 1st SSF insignia. The box is lined with black velvet and decorated with red, white, and blue ribbon and a red satin 1st SSF cutout. There are also four enameled medallions included, see photo. The outside of the commemorative box features a debossed 1st Special Service Force insignia and the bottom is lined with felt.
A ring also included in the grouping features a red faceted stone in the center and surrounding it reads: "WORLD WAR II 1941 1945" and on the sides: "VETERAN" with images of soldiers from each branch of military and the other side shows the Great Seal of the United States. The 14K gold ring is approximately a man's size 9.

8+ (Excellent): Ranger beret shows moderate to heavy wear, the AL cap shows moderate wear, overall the grouping shows minor to moderate wear, nearly all the enamel details remain intact, overall excellent condition.
