ARTIFACT: Scarce WWI 75 mm black artillery round shell casing in original cardboard and steel canister. The top of the canister reads: "75 MM G.M 1897:16:17 AND H.M1 BLANK CONTAINER .75 MM.M 27 AI" the bottom of the canister reads the same but also has white paint that reads: "LOT P A-40". The shell reads: "75 MM MXX (with the number 18 beneath) LOT 1285 - 21 F. A. E. D. B. FC MOD 97.16.17".

VINTAGE: Circa WWI

SIZE: Approximately Case: 4" (diameter) x 8" tall; Shell: 3-1/4" (diameter) x 7-1/4" tall

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Cardboard, brass, steel, paint

ATTACHMENT: Friction lid

MARKINGS: "75 MM G.M 1897:16:17 AND H.M1 BLANK CONTAINER .75 MM.M 27 AI", "LOT P A-40", "75 MM MXX LOT 1285 - 21 F. A. E. D. B. FC MOD 97.16.17"

ITEM NOTES: This is from a US Military Artillery collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VCJX15 LGJX9/15 SEJX5/17

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The artillery and canister show minor to moderate overall wear, the steel caps on the canister show some oxidation, much of the painted details remain intact, overall very fine condition.
