ARTIFACT:
This is a circa early World War II pair of United States military aviator goggles Type AN-6530. The goggles have early tube-type vents on either side and are marked AN-6530 on the bridge. The lenses are fixed in place with a foam frame but the hinged bridge is able to flex slightly. Used by the Army, Navy and Air Force during WWII, the goggles were produced by only two manufacturers: Chas Fischer Spring Co. and American Optical. This was upstaged in 1944 by the B-8 goggle, making this an item that was used only a short time.
